Al Rescha

El Nudo

Sofia Calvano // AR

These poems begin at the knot of Pisces, the star Al Rescha. From that knot, the fish seem to pull, swimming in different directions. The symbolism of this star is associated with the knot as a point that connects two things of different natures: “bringing things together to create something, giving life to a new idea.”

In these poems, two universes intertwine. On one hand, the sky as a cosmos—the act of looking at the stars in community. The texts contain references to Greek names, constellations, and celestial points.

On the other hand, the mourning of a romantic breakup unfolds throughout the pages. The knot in the throat, the pain, the anguish. Looking at the sky when one cannot sleep, searching for answers in the night.

In this case, Al Rescha is what brings these “two things” together: a handful of poems as a new idea, a solution.
