The Knot in Pisces

Cecilia Rey

Dreams, dreams, dreams. What if the myth was born from a dream? What if my dreams are shaped by these myths? What if in the dream there is truth? In this work, images and movements and fractions of reality tell the myth of Pisces, a work exploring connection, memory, and the space between oniric experiences and reality. At the center is a small knot-like form made from fabric, plastic, and recycled materials, inspired by Alrescha, the star that ties the two fish of Pisces together.

Short video projections move across the surface of the knot: fragments of nature, underwater textures, fleeting gestures, moments of intimacy, and dreamlike scenes. The projections subtly and abstractly retell the myth of Eros and Aphrodite, suggesting how separate beings, memories, and experiences remain connected. The images appear and disappear like drifting thoughts, fragments of a dream; layering the object with emotion, memory, and imagination. Through these visual fragments, the work reflects on the idea that bodies, stories, nature, and the cosmos, exist in relation to one another.

The accompanying ambient soundscape drifts softly through the space, tying the images together and creating an intimate atmosphere where myth, dreams, and nature quietly converge.
